Day Tripping on Denman and Hornby islands off of Vancouver Island B.C. Canada

Both Denman and Hornby Islands are located only minutes away from Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada Via a short 15-minute ferry ride. The ferry is right off the main Highway 19.

Once at the ferry terminal you get to pay for the ride to Denman Island, nice thing is you don't have to pay on the way back. Your fare allows you to ride the 2nd ferry to Hornby Island also.

We arrived at the ferry terminal at about 10 am there was a short lineup so we did not have to wait very long at all. sometimes the lineup can be a couple of sailing waits.

There is a convenience store that acts like a gas station with a Subway sandwich outlet inside and a fresh seafood place downstairs.

When you arrive on Denman Island there is a sense of urgency among drivers to get to the next ferry to Hornby Island. try not to get caught up in the rush, there are many things to see and experience before rushing to the next ferry.

As you can see in the photo above the Hornby Island ferry is capable of transporting large vehicles. I drive a Class A RV and would not feel comfortable on the somewhat narrow roads of this small island, on this trip we took the SUV.

What is the big deal about These islands?

For the most part, most people come for the beautiful sandy beaches like at Tribune Bay

There are many other parks to check out on both islands

REMEMBER,,, last ferry off Hornby Island is 6pm
