In a town called Tequila in the Jalisco area of Mexico is a small producer of traditional tequila. La Fortaleza
This brand of tequila is made in the traditional way of the house of Sauza a well known brand sold to a Chinese owner but is back under the new name la Fortaleza.
The process is still for the most part still made by hand with very little machinery involved. The recipe is still the same as it was back in the day when the brand was known as Sauza.
A tour of the distillery is possible and very informative to the processes of traditional tequila making.
During the tour you get to see the whole process from start to finish.
The tour includes a tasting that describes the difference in the tequilas and the tastes of each.
At the end of the distillery tour you're permitted to roam the grounds and enjoy the surroundings.
