What a wonderful Destination.
So where to start.
Jamaica is a Caribbean island nation. Lots of mountains, rainforests and reef-lined beaches.
Many of its all-inclusive resorts are clustered in Montego Bay, with its British-colonial architecture, and Negril, known for its diving and snorkelling sites. Jamaica is famed as the birthplace of reggae music, and it’s capital Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum, dedicated to the famous singer.
We recently travelled to Jamaica, landing in Montego Bay.
We stayed at the Grand Bahia Hotel /Resort for 14 days.
While there we had to explore and explore we did.
First, a walk around the property, then the beach.

Next, we attempted to get away from the resort. This is when the real adventure began. The Resort staff informed us that if we wanted to leave the resort we would need an escort as crime was a concern to them.
Being the cautious Traveler we decided to get an escort. Turned out that this escort was fabulous. He took us to swimming holes and jerk chicken for lunch and then off to Ocho Rios for some shopping. The whole time he was pulling down on his shirt tail.
At the end of the day, as he was dropping us off at the hotel, we had to ask if he was carrying a gun. He was!!
He explained that at no time during our outing were we at any risk.
He shared with us some information about the area and the petty theft and robberies of tourists. Again at no time did we feel in danger.
The weather during our stay in October it was very hot. On the average of 28-30 celsius.
During the stay, we took advantage of the tours offered by the hotel.
One of the tours was to Dunn’s Falls.

How much is Dunn’s River Falls Jamaica?
The rates for non-residents to access Dunn’s River Falls and Park are $20us for ages 12 years and over and $12us for children between the ages of 3 – 11 years old.
The falls are fascinating as they are not man-made. They are actually minerals deposits from the underground water that feeds it.
Another tour, was to Mystic mountain.
Mystic Mountain is one of the top attractions in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
There is so much to do there – from zip-lining and bobsledding to bird watching.
